Arrived in Buffalo, NY last evening and stayed at the Erie Basin Boat yard which is just inside the Buffalo City Harbor. Today we motored 8 miles downstream in the Niagara River to the Smith Boys Boat Yard which is located in Tonawanda across from Grand Island. This is where our mast will be stepped down and "craddled on our deck" so we can proceed through the Erie Canal and the New York canal system to the Hudson River. On our short journey today we went throught the Black Rock Canal, the first of many canals we will journey through on our way to the hudson river. From the enterance of the canal we could see the Niagara River swiftly flowing by, a two knot current with many small rapids- I was happy that we were protected from the swift Niagara River while in the canal. Scenes of the day.

A happy captain.
