September 30, 2008 Annapolis, MD

We are anchored in a beautiful cove (Weems Creek) a mile and a half from downtown Annapolis. Yesterday we took our dingy for a "ride" to the city harbor and later we walked around the town and the Naval Academy. It was a beautiful day after the last few days of rain. On Sunday the 21 of September we left Sandy Hook ,New Jersey (Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club Marina) and had a 35 hour run from Sandy Hook ,New Jersey down the Atlantic coast and then up the Delaware Bay and through the C&D Canal. We stayed overnight in a marina on the canal and then headed for a small anchorage just off the canal waiting for a weather window to continue down the Chesapeake Bay. We had a rainy 8 hour sail to Annapolis but we saw many sail boats and cruisers headed south- I am sure they were anxious like us to head south. Annapolis is just a delightful town with the small shops in historical homes the beautiful State House and of course the beautiful Naval Academy. The town is getting ready for the annual sail and power boat show so there is a lot of activity in the harbor and the tourist shops.
