Potter's Cove, Prudence Island, RI 4 July 07

We finally were able to leave the marina in Tiverton yesterday after a little over a week sojourn getting our muffler welded and our engine driven refrigeration system emptied of old freon that contained a lot of moisture and caused the system to block up and not cool. During our stay we were able to visit with several friends from when we lived in New England 20 years ago.

On Sunday we returned to Newport by car to see the tall ships parade. We were able to find a good viewing spot by the roadway of the Newport Bridge and watch the ships come under the bridge just north of Newport. We were on a side street in a local neighborhood just on the south end of the Navy base (ship yard and war college).

The ships are quite an amazing sight! These harbors must of been quite something 200 years ago crowded with these vessels.

We are going to stay anchored at Potter's Cove in the north end of Narragansett Bay for a couple of days to let a storm system pass before we venture out to the islands off the Massachusetts coast and Buzzards Bay hopefully on the weekend.
